Dave February 02, 2013 for Model Number kuds03ftwh3 I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher that is leaking in the area of the pump motor. I was thinking of replacing the impeller and seals but can't figure out how to remove the impeller. Any helpful hints?
1 Answer Hello Dave, To remove the motor from the sump housing you will want to remove the securing bolt securing the wash motor and drip shield in place on the pump assembly. Once removed turn motor approximately 1/4 turn until it stops. Pull motor straight back from the sump. This may take some effort to dislodge. The volute will remain attached. Keep in mind when reinstalling the wash motor and the volute, do not pinch the volute seal between teh volute and sump. Use a small amount of rinse aid on the volute seal to help installation. Once pump is off you can remove the impeller and volute. To remove the impeller, slide a flat blade screwdriver into the back of the wash motor to keep armature of motor from turning while unscrewing the impeller clockwise. Take care not to scratch or nick the motor winding. Unscrew the impeller then line the arrow of the volute up with the triangle mark on the pump and lift off volute. Reinstall in reverse. 1 Answer Hello Anthony, If you replace the impeller, you should order new "O" rings to eliminate the possibility of a water leak.I personally would not fool around with it. I would replace the pump and motor assembly W10782773. The only disadvantage to this is the expense. Jsmith8918 February 13, 2012 for Model Number GU2500XTPQ7 Our Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III started making some grinding noise a few weeks ago. The dishes were still getting cleaned, but ugh, that grinding noise! I pulled the dishwasher all the way out and put it on its side and took out the motor from the bottom and the spinning cutter from the inside of the tub and cleaned everything out and put it all back together. There was quite a bit of debris inside the tub at the cutter location, but the motor and impeller looked rather fine. All seemed to be well for a short while, but then the noise came back on a smaller scale. But then, all of a sudden, the dishwasher is quiet... too quiet... and even the easiest-to-clean dishes were seemingly untouched. I discovered that the water spray from the bottom sprayer was only spraying up about half the height of a normal dinner plate and moving very slowly. Suggestions? Ideas? Parts you'd recommend first?

Cg January 30, 2012 for Model Number kudi02crbs1 Hi, Dishwasher does not wash dishes,everything sounds normal. I had the washer running with door opened the water enters the dishwasher and spouts up about 6 inches and the arm moves very slow with no water coming out of the top. Jeff January 10, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool GU1200xtkqo Actually, the threaded shaft is 8mm-1.25 thread while the new impeller part is 6mm-1.25. I had to go to Home Depot and purchase a 8mm-1.25 tap and re-tap the new impeller in order for it to fit the original motor shaft.

Jeff January 10, 2012 for Model Number GU1200XTKQO I have a whirlpool GU1200XTKQO. This is the brand and model number. I ordered an impeller and received it from APP. It is not the correct part. The motor shaft has threads and the old impeller threaded onto the motor shaft. The new impeller sent by APP cannot do this. I need help locating the correct part. The parts people say part #8193951, which I received is the correct part and they said the notes say, "this part threads on" but that is incorrect in relationship to the part I received.

Chuck December 27, 2011 for Model Number GU1200XTKT0 our dishwasher runs through all cycles ok, but has just developed a noise that is coming from under the machine behind the kickpanel. I cant decide if its electrical or mechanical. Any ideas?

I removed all parts and analyzed the problem to surmise that the impeller shaft teeth appear quite worn and in need of replacement. Please help me understand if (and if so how) I can replace just the impeller assy. for our model, or do I have do an entire pump assy replacement. I can't see any way into the dishwasher's pump assy from the inside of the unit.
