Wayne S. September 02, 2011 I asked the question below. Thanks for the answer...but...it didn't answer my question really. I did check to make sure that the chopper blade is properly seated in the slot and that the nylon fingers are seated on the impeller shaft. I also did an additional test: With the old chopper in place, I reached into the top of the area that houses the impeller and turned it. The chopper blade should turn, but does not...the shaft just spins. I repeated that test with the new chopper assembly, and the shaft turns the chopper blade until I stop it with my finger, then the shaft 'chunks' inside the nylon fingers. I believe that confirms I need a new impeller (which has that shaft as part of it). So now back to my original question: Is part number AP3738238 a match for my machine? I can't find my machine on the cross reference list for that part. Sorry to be a pain. Thanks again! Wayne

Wayne S August 30, 2011 for Model Number KUDR01TJBL0 I have a Kitchen-Aid under counter dishwasher model KUDR01TJBL0. I purchased a new cutter blade assembly, but when installed it makes a grinding noise. KA customer support assures me the replacement part (#8268383) is the same as original, however I can see that the nylon fingers that slide onto the impeller shaft are 1/6" longer than those on the original. I've inspected the impeller shaft and it seems pretty chewed up - but I can't tell if its from the original chopper or the new one. However, it appears I need a new impeller. Is part number AP3738238 a match for my machine? I can't find my machine on the cross reference list for that part. Thanks in advance?
1 Answer Wayne, Are you sure you installed the chopper blade and plate in the groove molded into the pump housing, properly W10083957V. and that the "fingers" or ridges fit into the drive portion of the impeller.
