Hello Phil, start by accessing the rear of the control board and check if the power indicator LED is lit. if not check for 120v into the control board, also there is a Tech Sheet that came with your model either in the rear of the control panel area or behind the front cabinet panel near the top, you will need to run the test mode to find the fault code.

We have a coin operated Whirlpool top load. When coins are inserted the machine starts properly, but the lights don't seem to correlate with the cycles. It tries to do a final spin and keeps the lid locked even after the cycle is done. When the door lock turns off I take out the load and when I closed the lid it locked again and tried a final spin. I have unplugged the system to try to reset and still does not work. Could it be the interface panel ?

1 Answer

Michelle, There is a tech sheet located inside the unit that you will want to get out and do a service diagnostic on the unit to see if there are any error codes which will guide you to what the issue will be.

AJ, if the main control W10860464 is receiving 120VAC from the power cord and it will not illuminate or enter into diagnostics mode, then the control has failed and would need to be replaced.

Scotty, If the lock is in the locked position and will not unlock, get the tech sheet from inside the cabinet of the unit and put it into service diagnostics. While in diagnostics go to the error codes setting and see what errors that there are, this will guide you to what is going on with the unit. It sounds like you may have a control board and lid lock that would be faulty.

Apologies in advance, I am not mechanically inclined. Usually, when the correct coins are inserted, the coin slider sends a signal to the mainboard to allow power and operation of the washer. That is no longer working despite the correct coin insertions. The wire coming out of the back of the coin slider that connects to the main board needs to be manually connected and disconnected in order to operate the washing machine. We have just replaced the motherboard, which is brand new, but he problem remains. I am just guessing, but the fault perhaps rests with the coin slider's communication. Is the part responsible for this called the coin slider interface? Or another name?

1 Answer

Mike, Yes the coin slider interface WPW10491734 will be the most likely cause for this issue. The other thing that will need to be checked is the wire harness between the coin slider and the interface.
