Doug, the door switch W10128087 substitutes to part number WPW10318609 as being the most up to date part number. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued this part and it is no longer available.

Karen for Model Number GEW9250PW0

GEW9250PW0 Dryer will not turn on, no buttons produce any result except the press and hold for 3 sec lock button and the light inside is on, other than that, nothing else. It happened last year but then suddenly began to work again and it happened a few weeks ago but after I unplugged over night, it came back on. On chat someone just recommended the door switch but I just read in the Q & A that if the inside light is on, it's not the door switch. Can someone please advise?

Karen, With the unit not doing anything and it was corrected by leaving unplugged overnight then this will most likely be a faulty control board on the unit.

Chris H. for Model Number GEW9250PW0

The light inside my Whirlpool Duet dryer suddenly won't work. The wiring appears to be intact, I've tried 2 new OEM spec bulbs & pulled up the tab that sometimes gets stuck to the bottom of the socket, inside the socket. Still no light function. Everything else works perfectly including all lights on the front loading machine and I've received no error messages. Would my assumption that the door switch is causing my no light problem be correct? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Chris H.

Chris, Based on the information it does sound likely that the door switch will be the issue with the unit.

Johnny, The retaining tabs that attach and hold the switch assembly to the front panel, are a bit different than those on a refrigerator door light switch. We imagine you could attempt to replace the switch as you described, but you'd probably cause more scratches and dings to the front panel, trying to force the tabs in and pulling out on the switch assembly. Besides, there's a reason the switch assembly includes the wires attached to the terminals, and there is also a retainer tab attached to the front panel to hold the wiring harness in place.

Darrell, Based on the model number there is not a E6 error code for this unit. An E6 would be erroneous and would most likely be a control board issue.

Jim, Normally if the light is going on and off the door switch will not be the issue. You will want to check the thermal fuse located on the blower housing to make sure that has continuity and if this checks ok then the issue will likely be the control board that is located on the side wall of the unit.

Bernard, You will want to check the thermal fuse on the dryer and also check to make sure that it has continuity. If no continuity then would be bad and need replaced.

DJ, You will need to access the door switch, remove the wires and check the switch circuit. You also want to check and make sure, the door closes tightly and is evenly closed all the way around the opening, also check and make sure the top and bottom door catches are holding the door closed 279570. Thanks and Good Luck
