The Washer Control Knob is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washers.

Causes of malfunctions include stripped interior gears losing secure connection to circuit boards over hundreds of wash cycles. Repeated twisting motions can also crack fragile exterior ring structures.

Symptoms consist of:

  • Refusal to rotate between settings
  • Missing or faded graphics impairing readability
  • Inability to start or stop washer cycles as needed

This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore models.

Color: Light gray used on platinum models. Measures about 1-2/3 inches in diameter. For blue order WP8181881. For dark gray used on pewter models order WP8182050.

Hello Larry, Yes, the metal insert stays in the knob 8181859. You need to check and see if the old insert is stuck on the control knob shaft. If so, pull it off to remove it. Then the new knob pushes onto the shaft of the board.
