The Lid Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer lid is securely locked during operation, preventing it from being opened mid-cycle, which could cause water spills and interrupt the washing process. This component plays a vital role in the safety and functionality of the washing machine by ensuring that the lid remains closed during washing and spinning cycles.

Causes of a bad lid latch assembly can include regular wear and tear, electrical failures, or physical damage from forcefully opening or closing the lid. When the lid latch assembly is faulty, it can affect the washer's ability to start or complete a cycle properly.

Symptoms of a bad Lid Latch Assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to lid lock issues
  • The lid not locking or unlocking properly
  • The washer pausing unexpectedly during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Dave A. for Model Number 110.21302011

Hi. We have a Kenmore 110.21302011 HE top loader that sometimes doesn't finish spinning out the clothes. You can run two similar loads in a row on the "regular" setting, the first will spin out fine the second will make growling noises during the spin or not finish the spin and leave me with soggy clothes. I'll have to set it to spin out again to get them less than soggy. When running other cycle/wash settings it seems to happen more often. I've checked all the usual things from the trouble shooting section of the manual and it hasn't helped.

Isla for Model Number 1CWTW4800YQ0

Hi, I am just getting around to installing new lid switch I purchased from you back in February. We bought a Daewoo DW-162C to take its place in the meantime. The light comes on red initially when fill lights up. Then it goes off and you can open top. No water is entering the machine at this point. I live in the Carribean so it is difficult to find competent appliance repairmen. There is one that is very honest and knows his stuff but he is so busy, it is difficult to get him to come to make a house call. Any suggestions as to what would be next step in troubleshooting? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg

Isla, Unfortunately we would not have any information on a DAEWOO product and would not be able to assist with international units.

Hello Lynette. You will need to check the lid switch and see if it is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Chris, Call us back and we will authorize another one to be sent to you. Be aware that we do not manufacture these parts. We are only a parts distributor. You should also consider that if there is a door strike involved, it could be the issue. I was unable to look this information up without the model number.

Rosie, In most cases this will be caused by a faulty lock assembly. To be sure it is best to run a diagnostic test and pull any error codes that may be stored. This can be done by accessing the tech sheet located in the control panel of the unit. This will guide you toward the correct part failure.

Kevin, Unfortunately there is not a picture of the lid lock switch in the open position to be able to determine how to put it back together.

Mike, To test the main board of this unit it would be a matter of testing voltage into the control board and out of the control board based on what you are testing and at what point of the cycle it is in.
