Causes of a bad lid lock assembly can include wear and tear from frequent use, electrical issues such as short circuits, and physical damage from impact or mishandling. A malfunctioning lid lock can disrupt the washing cycle, leading to incomplete washes or safety concerns.

Symptoms of a bad lid lock assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes indicating a lid lock issue
  • The lid not locking or unlocking properly
  • The washer lid feeling loose or failing to stay closed

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Robert, There is not a video available but to remove the control panel, take the rear panel off the control and then use a putty knife to release the spring clip on either corner to lift the console to remove.

Jeff for Model Number MVWB800VQ0

I have a Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 400 (MVWB800VQ0) and the problem that I am having is the washer will run but always when I start a normal cycle the drain pump always runs like there is water in it but it never sounds like anything drains out. Plus when the cycle is complete the clothes don't seem as dry as the should be after the spin cycle (like it isn't spinning hard enough or long enough even though it is on the Max extract spin setting and the cycle doesn't stop). Lastly after the cycle is complete we usually leave the lid open to avoid any odors in the washer but it will eventually beep that the lid is open, so we will close it to stop the beeping then it tries to drain again, but there wasn't a cycle running. I looked at several parts and nothing seems to address these issues. What tests should I be running to isolate?

Hello Jeff, you would need to run the service/diagnostic mode to find out what the control board is seeing as a problem,(fault code) ,the tech sheet is located behind/in the rear of the console.

Katie for Model Number wpw10619844

I'm trying to repair the lid lock mechanism for my maytag Bravo XL Model MVWB835DW0. I bought the part WPW10619844, which is the one listed for my model number. The video that is linked to this part shows a man who seems to effortlessly remove the control panel cover before lifting the lid of the machine from the front. I have removed all the silver back covers to my machine and there does not appear to be any way to remove my control panel cover. I cannot repair my machine without removing both the control panel cover and then the lid of the machine. Please help! How do I open my control panel and lid?

1 Answer

Hello Katie, you will need a putty knife or something similar for this. First disconnect power to the washer, then at the rear top of the control panel remove the 2 1/4 " hex head screws, then at the front of the washer push back on the right side of the top of the console and where the lower part of the console meets the washer top there will be a slight gap between the two as you do this, slide the putty knife into this gap and press inward, you will be depressing a spring clip, while depressing the clip lift up on the console, once it has come free, do the other side same way.

Dan, there should be mounting slots for the screws from the original latch to be placed to allow the new latch to be mounted. A repair video found on https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-latch-wpw10619844-ap6023438.html under the item image can assist with this repair.

Kenny, it is most likely the main control. However, to verify this the door lock should be tested. If you could provide the model number for your unit, this will allow for the most accurate testing information to be provided.
