Symptoms of a bad lid lock assembly include:

Katie for Model Number wpw10619844

I'm trying to repair the lid lock mechanism for my maytag Bravo XL Model MVWB835DW0. I bought the part WPW10619844, which is the one listed for my model number. The video that is linked to this part shows a man who seems to effortlessly remove the control panel cover before lifting the lid of the machine from the front. I have removed all the silver back covers to my machine and there does not appear to be any way to remove my control panel cover. I cannot repair my machine without removing both the control panel cover and then the lid of the machine. Please help! How do I open my control panel and lid?

Answer

Hello Katie, you will need a putty knife or something similar for this. First disconnect power to the washer, then at the rear top of the control panel remove the 2 1/4 " hex head screws, then at the front of the washer push back on the right side of the top of the console and where the lower part of the console meets the washer top there will be a slight gap between the two as you do this, slide the putty knife into this gap and press inward, you will be depressing a spring clip, while depressing the clip lift up on the console, once it has come free, do the other side same way.
