Alice June 10, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool WFW9050XW00 Ordered two replacement baffles for the washer. They arrived quickly but no instructions on how to install them. Can you please provide instructions?
1 Answer Hello Alice, I normally remove the access panel and remove the hose from the outer tub that leads to the drain pump. If you use an inspection mirror, you can open the door and turn the tub around by hand to locate the screw on the baffle. Be careful not to drop it inside the outer tub to avoid a complete teardown. While you can sometimes get lucky and access the baffle screw through the water inlet opening at the top of the outer tub, this is not the best way since dropping the screw leaves no option but the teardown method. The other option is to pull the tub assembly from the units' cabinet and split the outer tub. Read More...

Tom September 15, 2013 for Model Number wfw8410sw01 How do I get to the screw that holds the baffle p/n 8540360 on this model washer and do I need to purchase the screw separately.
1 Answer Tom, To get to the screw you would need to pull the tub out and when you look into the large drain opening you may be able to access that screw. If you cannot get to it this way then you will have to take the tub assembly apart to get to it. You should be able to use the same screw that was in the original baffle. Read More...
Linda July 04, 2013 for Model Number W9151YW The baffle broke off of my 1 1/2 yr old Duet Washer. The part says #8540360. Just want to be sure it will fit and that it comes with the screw to secure it. I'm told that Whirlpool doesn't bother to secure it with the screw so that's why they break. Thanks, Linda
1 Answer Hello Linda! No, the baffle WP8540360 does not include the screw. The screw is part number WPY706189. Thanks! Read More...

Todd September 01, 2012 for Model Number WFW9050XW00 The WFW9050XW00 model does not have the hose on the top of the drum when you take the cover off. Can you give instructions for how to get to the screw. Is there a diagram that shows how to separate the tub assembly halves?
1 Answer Todd, The information you requested is on it's way. You're on the right track, if you have a damaged baffle in the drum, you will need to separate the tubs to replace the baffle. You didn't mention any specific issue. Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Hello Alice. Remove the top off the washer and there is a black hose in the top of the outer tub. You will remove this hose and see if you can access the baffle screw. If so, you can remove the screw, and the baffle WP8540360 will slide out of the tub assembly. If not, you will need to remove the tub assembly from the unit, and separate the two halves to access the screw and change the baffle. Hope this helps. Read More...
