Hello Judy. The cooktop bulbs W10709921 are 25 watts. You can not use a larger bulb for the unit. Sorry. They pull out and push in to remove and install. Hope this helps.

Hello Judy. No, you do not need to use a higher watt bulb. 8206232A is 40 watts. The bulbs are hard to remove and unscrew from the socket. Hope this helps.

Hello Joe. The bulb 8206232A can be used as a three way, if the unit has a high and medium and low setting on the model number you provided. This is the correct bulb for the unit. The manufactre does not call it a 3 way, just the lamp basles. Hope this helps.

Angie, If you're using a 40 watt 120 VAC appliance light bulb, you're using the correct part, Are you sure your installing the bulb snugly, but not too tight, and did you notice if the wiring and socket are tight and mounted properly. Don't use the hood light as a "night" light" that really shortens the life of the bulb. You may want to use a dab of vaseline on the end and the threads of the new bulb. Thanks and Good Luck
