For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Auger Motor (Part Number: OEM13359240)

W for Model Number KSSC48QVS03

Hello, I need a new ice dispenser auger motor, but the electrical male connector from the refrigerator to the auger motor is damaged from corrosion. Do you have any recommendations for how to replace the male connector so I can then order the auger motor and some other ice dispenser parts from your site to complete the repair job? Is there a connector repair kit to splice in a new connector? Or is it part of a wire harness from the dispenser control panel that can be replaced? Worst case, do you know what type of connector it is so I could look for it separately? Thank you very much for any help that you can provide!! W

Hello John, you need a multimeter, with the door open, and door switch taped closed, the auger motor internally has a PTC device and rectifier circuit which you cannot test with a meter, check the blue wire to chassis then the grey wire to chassis, if either one shows 120vac replace the auger motor.

Don, In most cases, the motor will stop working due to moisture getting to the motor. Make sure that you are allowing the door to stay open too long and look for any signs of an air leak. If you purchased the part from appliancepartspros.com then here is the return policy. https://www.appliancepartspros.com/customerservice/returns.aspx

The auger motor (Whirlpool Part 235547) in my freezer stopped working. When I opened the motor compartment I found it full of ice. I thawed the motor and removed the ice, and it worked again. A couple of days later, it was frozen again (and not working). The water does not appear to be coming down the auger shaft, which is clear of ice. The water DOES seem to be coming down the shaft containing the wires leading to the motor - that shaft is full of ice. I assume that the other ends of these wires are connected to the dispense control board. I am not sure how ice can form in this shaft. I have seen advice to check that the ice dispensing flapper seals correctly. I have used a flashlight to verify that the flapper does appear to seal correctly. Any advice about what may be causing this and how to fix it is appreciated!

Hello Ed, the possible causes are as follows, first remove the auger motor access cover and check where the auger motor wires come thru the liner they should have a rubber grommet or silicone rubber seal, next check the ice maker is not overfilling into the ice bin and running down the shaft, last recheck the ice chute flapper seal, work the dispenser lever slowly several times, you can also pour an ounce of water into the chute and see if it holds.

John, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty auger motor if the motor is not turning.

John, The auger motor would be the place to start. We have had reports of failed auger motors in recent times. It's the most likely issue, based on your post information.
