Magic P Riverdale , GA January 22, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED5PVEXVS00 Ice dispenser did not work I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. So I advise if you are thinking of replacing the yoke get the motor at the same time because if I had not done that I would have had to wait for it to come once I found out that it would not come off the motor shaft. If I had called a service tech they would have wanted to put in a new ice maker this was much cheper. Now all is well ! Bill G Naples , FL October 23, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED5GVEXVD00 Ice maker motor turned motor coupler did not so no ice was dispended Removing the motor and light assembly was easy. It was my first step before anything else. Four screws and a wire harness, piece of cake. Once the assembly was removed I got a good look at the motor and coupler connection. I found that the coupler moved freely by hand while the motor shaft did not. So I thought a fastening nut had loosened then fallen off the motor shaft. Went to 3 local hardware stores but I was unable to find a nut able to match the size and thread pitch of the shaft. (Note: the threads turn left handed.) Next, I did an internet search to find the part number for the nut and found that the coupler does not require a nut, it has one built in. At this point I knew I was on the wrong track. Now I suspected the threads on the motor shaft had stripped and the coupler was cross threaded. It was a little tricky to prevent the shaft from turning while I unscrewed the cross threaded coupler but with a needle nosed locking pliers I could reach behind the coupler to clamp the motor shaft and prevent it from turning while I unscrewed the coupler. I unscrewed the coupler in under 5 minutes and that includes finding my pliers. Sure enough the threads were stripped. Ordered a new motor and coupler. It got here very quickly Four days after starting this repair the ice maker was up and running great and this includes shipping time. These guys did a great job on helping me locate the parts via schematics, listed part numbers, and fast shipping. Eddie J Phenix City , AL August 02, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator WRX735SDHZ00 Ice maker would not dispense ice I replaced the auger motor. You have to remove complete ice maker. Everything is just like help video to do except yoke dispenser. I watched video several times. Yoke will not just tap loose, after 30 minutes of tapping, I was using screwdriver to brace. I used a Dremel tool to cut part of shaft, came off easy then. After that, the repair went great. I have ice, I noticed motor I received was stronger. Parts came on time stated and worked great. I will order again on other repairs. Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
Mike C Thomasville , GA April 14, 2019 Ice dispenser motor shaft stripped. Replacing the motor was easy, getting the motor coupling off that turns the auger was not. I had to get out a hand held grinder to finally get it free. After that the job went very quick. Thanks for the parts and the quick shipping.
