Jim August 15, 2016 for Model Number LE8517W2 I have an Amana dryer Mod. # LE8517W2 Problem: After running the dryer for 15 to 20 minutes the dryer stops and won't start again for about 15 minutes. This also happens with no heat cycle. Is this a problem with the motor getting hot and shutting down by a thermal switch in the motor.
1 Answer Hello Jim. Yes, based on the information you provided, the motor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...

Dom December 05, 2015 for Model Number MDE4806AYW The motor Pulley is spinning freely and is causing the drum to only rotate intermettenly. What can I do?

Conrad November 02, 2014 the pulley at the end of my Admiral Dryer motor broke in the grooves. That's where the belt is hooked up enroute to the tension pulley and then around the drum. Is that pulley integrated with the motor or can I just replace the pulley while keeping the motor as is. If it's replaceable, how do I detach the rest of the broken piece from the motor shaft?
Matt July 11, 2014 for Model Number Mde4658ayw I replaced the drive belt and drum wheels on my dryer. It worked for about 10 minutes and then I heard a bang and the drum stopped turning. When I took it apart, I found the main pulley on the motor was sheared in half. (I assume the belt wasn't properly aligned and put stress on the pulley?) Your site indicates that the pulley isn't available as a stand alone part because it's pressed on the motor shaft. However, mine was screwed onto the shaft. I unscrewed half of the broken pulley by hand from the shaft to remove it. Is there a part available that could be simply screwed back onto the shaft or no? Thank you in advance!
1 Answer Hello Matt! Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer the pulley separate from the motor assembly, part number WP2200376. Sorry about that! Read More...
Steve May 22, 2014 for Model Number Amana LEA60AW Could you give instructions for changing Amana LEA60AW dryer motor? It looks as if it can only be accessed from the front of the dryer. Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Steve. Disconnect power. Remove the lower access panel. Open door and remove lint filter. Remove screws securing the bulkhead to the panel. Disconnect wires from heater and thermistor. Remove the belt from the motor and remove the drum. Unplug wires from the motor. Remove the screws securing the motor bracket to the base of the unit. Pull forward and disengage the exhaust duct. Rotate and slide the motor assembly out of the unit. Remove the cover and the blower wheel from the motor. Pry off the clamps and replace the motor. Read More...
John March 26, 2014 for Model Number sdg305daww How do I access the drive motor to replace it? It does not appear that you can access from the back of the dryer. I was hoping there may be a video or intructions. Thanks
1 Answer Hello John, The front panels will have to be removed and the main top raised. The drum is then removed and the motor is accessed. We can send you some illustrated instructions if you could re-post with a valid e-mail address. Read More...
David March 16, 2014 for Model Number SDG4000AWW I replaced the motor in my maytag SDG4000AWW. Now the turn-on-push-switch has to be held in place for it to work. In other words as soon as I let off the switch the dryer stops. Also, it is not putting out any heat even if I hold the button in for a few minutes. Do you think the push switch is bad? There was a sock stuck in the vent and people in my house continued to push the switch to try and hope the dryer would start, but the motor got hot. Maybe switch got hot too and is now defective. Whatelse could it be? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello David, If the motor is wired correctly, the centrifugal switch in the new motor is bad. Read More...
