Matthew R. August 18, 2012 for Model Number rxp212 We were provided part 786324 square ignitor for my appliance. The appliance has a round style ignitor and the new square ignitor does not connect to the bracket Will this part mount to appliance and will it need the shield to connect this part? Can you advise on how to install as well?
1 Answer Hello Matthew! According to your model number the oven igniter 786324 is the correct manufacturer replacement used on your product. You will reuse the metal shield from the old igniter. Here is a link from our free repair forum with instructions on how to change the igniter out. Hope it helps, thanks! http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/1332-help-instructions-install-oven-igniter.html Read More...
1 Answer Hello Ron, Check the breaker. Check for power at the receptacle. Check for the ignitor glowing. if the ignitor glows, check the amperage draw by placing the clamp on amp meter onto one of the wires going to the ignitor. This has to read 3.2 to 3.6 amps of current. If it doesn't, replace the ignitor WP9758079. If it does, replace the safety valve WPW10293048. Read More...
Bake July 17, 2012 for Model Number Is barely readable - SK37000WW Caloric self cleaning oven I am missing a few letters or numbers with the model #. Did the best I could. We set the temp for the oven. Temp occasionally gets to where we want it. The igniter lite is lit and when the gas does go on it does get to the appropriate temp. Could this be the igniter? I was told that it was and I got a part # from you of PS387058 Is this right. Thanks
1 Answer Bake, A weak igniter is the most common issue, when it pertains to erratic oven temperatures, etc. So replacing the igniter would be the most likely place to start. The APP part number for the igniter is 786324 and TJMA01166-1 ceramic wire nuts. That should get you up and running. Read More...
Dave June 27, 2012 for Model Number Caloric rss361 GAS OVEN The oven lights and burns for a little bit then goes out, then it will relite and go out again. this happens repeatedly and the intervals of on time get shorter. all the while the oven never gets much over 300 deg F. Would this be an ignitor? There is a slight click sound, then the ignitor starts to go out and the flame shuts off. Please help
1 Answer Hello Dave. No, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the thermostat Y0060040 is not reading properly and is bad. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Read More...

Larry In Texas December 08, 2011 for Model Number AP2934763 Why does my ignitor on my Whirlpool wall oven quit right before Thanksgiving or Christmas every year for the past 5 years. I don't think I should have to replace this thing annually.
1 Answer Larry, I agree with you every year is qa bit much, but, remember, the igniter itself is pretty fragile ans suseptible to vibration and bangs. If the igniter works, then becomes weak and won't open the safety valve, you need to look for a wiring issue, loose connection, proper polarity and voltage supply. If it is broken or cracked, you need to consider a usge or cleaning issue. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Larry December 06, 2011 for Model Number matag My oven will not light. The ignitor produces a glow and the broiler works fine. What part/parts do I need to correct this problem? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Larry. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
