The Oven Igniter is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It is responsible for igniting the gas burner to produce heat, which is essential for baking and broiling. The igniter heats up to a high temperature and then sparks to ignite the gas, ensuring that the oven reaches and maintains the desired cooking temperature.

You should replace the oven igniter if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad igniter can include electrical failures, wear and tear from regular use, or damage from exposure to high temperatures. A malfunctioning igniter can prevent the oven from heating properly or at all.

Symptoms of a bad oven igniter include:

  • The oven not heating up or taking longer than usual to reach the desired temperature
  • The igniter glowing but failing to ignite the gas burner
  • No visible glow from the igniter when the oven is turned on
  • The oven producing a clicking sound without igniting

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Hi E.M. Remove the back panel. Remove the power. Unhook the oven sensor and ohm out the wires to see if they are 1060 ohms. Not open or shorted. You have a combination gas valve that fuels both broil and bake. Part # is WPW10293048. Unlikely that both igniters are open. They will ohm cold at 50 - 800 ohms. Part # is WP8054129. Thank you.

Casillas, This is a "gas" Range, and you most likely have a weak or broken oven igniter, and will need WP31940001 an oven igniter. Not only does the igniter have to glow, at the same time it has to draw 3.2 to 3.6 amps and produce 3.2 to 3.6 VAC to the oven burner valve, in order for the gas valve switch to open and release the gas. Thanks and Good Luck.

Hi Casillas. Check your outlet and see if you have it plugged in backwards. This will create the spark module to short out and send power to it all the time. If your polarity is correct, then you will need to replace the spark module part # is 32020101. Thank you.
