OC, With the lights staying on and the buttons not working, this would be a faulty control panel.

Mark for Model Number MDB7749AWB2

Our dishwasher does not start and left panel light do not work. So I just ordered the control panel for this dishwasher after disconnecting the ribbon connector. from the control board and ensuring the pump starts. However, I found a control board reset test (youtube) that suggested pressing high temp wash, heated dry in succession two twice which runs the washer through a cycle which DOES illuminate the left side lights but didn't fix anything. Am I correct in ordering the control panel?

1 Answer

Mark, If the lights come on during the test mode then it would not be a control panel issue but rather a control board issue.

The lights on the left side are not working. The lights on right do, except for the On and Cancel lights. It turns on and does the job, although I'm not entirely sure which wash cycle it is doing.... I need to replace the Console Assembly W10356459 in Black, as it is only still attached by (Literally!) one screw. All the plastic thread inserts are broken off. Wondering if while I'm doing that if there are things to check to see if something is loose or figure out if I need more parts, and if so, which ones!

1 Answer

Patti, For this issue you would only need to replace the control panel of the unit and should not need anything further.

Hello Mark, You will need to verify the connection of the ribbon cable from the control panel W10811148 to the control board W11202746. These two parts are separate and if both are needed, they will have to be ordered individually. These can be ordered on the same order and the one not needed can be returned. One and or the other can cause this issue, as can a poor ribbon cable connection at the board.

Hello Carmen. It should be the same as the old one. Most of the time, the cleaning solution used to clean the control panel is what damages it.

Mike, check the ribbon cable for any loose connections. If that's ok you'll need to replace the control panel part number W10811148. Thanks.

Hello Leonard, This is possible but doubtful considering the symptoms. I would remove the kickpanel and open the power connection box and make sure there are no melted wire nuts in there. This is the most common cause of the complaint you described. If this is not it, open the door assembly and check all of your connections to the board.

Kim, The most likely cause for the start/cancel to no work would be the control panel. You do want to make sure that the door latch is working properly as well. A faulty door latch will cause the start not to work.
