Ryan for Model Number MDBTT50AWS

Dishwasher won't start when pressing "Start" on the panel. The "Cycle Select" button also doesn't light up the "Normal" option anymore. Also can't toggle the heated dry option. No matter what the setting, when I press "Start" the "Wash/Dry" and "Heated Dry" light up every so dimly while I press it but as soon as I pull my figure away the panel goes dark. Was wondering if I need a new panel or a new door latch as the exact same behavior happens if I leave the door open and attempt to start.

My handle has been broken for quite some time. Yesterday it finally completely broke and the dishwasher wouldn't work anymore. I was assuming because the actuator wasn't engaging because of broken handle. I purchased and installed a new handle and made sure the wires were hooked back up correctly. I put everything back together, turned on the breaker and still no lights on the touchscreen and the buttons do nothing. Reading through some peoples reports it seems that the touchscreen (part 6-919843) gets messed up from pulling on the broken handle harder so as to open the dishwasher. However, the guy where I bought the part said that if the touchscreen doesn't have power then the main control board (part W10218822) needs to be replaced. The local store will not accept a return on an electronic part. Is there a way to diagnose this myself or do I need to get an appliance repair guy to come out?

Hello Nate. If you order the board from us and it does not fix the issue, you can return it. I would suggest removing the ribbon cable from the control board and then clean it with rubbing alcohol and see if it starts to work again on the unit.

The dishwasher won't start and I'm trying to diagnose which part need replacement--the main control panel or the touchpad. I checked the switches on the latch for continuity--no problems there. I reset the power and problem continued. The lights on the control panel light up except the normal cycle will never light up. When pressing the delay button the 2 4 and 6 will flash depending on which delay is selected. Pressing the start/cancel button causes the led above the heated dry button to faintly glow.

When using the dishwasher,we set it for heavy wash and everything works fine. But when I check on the progress later. I find the washer is stopped in mid operation, the lights are flashing. The door is not open enough to allow water to leak out but you can pull it open without using the latch handle. When I close the door, the cycle continues and it usually will finish. Sometimes it will stop again further into the cycle. When I close the door it will usually finish after this. I have checked the latch catch (appears to be unbroken but it is a little loose). I replaced the door handle last year and everything worked fine. Is it normal after closing the door for it to be able to be opened by just pulling on the door and not the handle? Do I need a new handle or a latch catch or is something else going on?

1 Answer

Hello T.J. Check and see if the latch is locking onto the strike. If not, it sounds like the latch assembly W10862259 will need to be replaced if the strike is not broken. You should not be able to open the door just by pulling on it.
