Hello Sandy, If there is enough water pressure from the RO system to properly close the water valve properly, you will need to remove the filter. This unit does not show that a bypass plug is necessary for the unit to dispense water.

Plmonty, No you will not need a water filter bypass plug for your model refrigerator. Open the water filter door on the base grille of the refrigerator, carefully remove the filter, wipe up any spillage and close and snap the filter door in place. The filter housing has a "automatic" bypass mechanism, that will allow water to flow through the system when the filter is removed. Thanks,
