The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is vital for draining water from the washer drum during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose, ensuring that clothes are cleaned and rinsed effectively.

Symptoms of a failing Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as humming or grinding
  • Error codes on the washer's display indicating drainage issues
  • Water leaks from the pump area or from the washer
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to drainage problems

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include obstructions from debris, wear and tear on the pump motor over time, electrical issues such as short circuits, or damage from improper installation or usage.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Note: This pump has been redesigned and the mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

Lee, Based on this information the pump would not be working properly. You will want to check the pump to make sure that there are no clogs. Also pull the belt off the pump and see if it turns freely with no resistance. If there is resistance then the pump is faulty and would need to be replaced.

P. B., You will want to check your drain for obstructions in the drain line and in the pump. It is possible that the bearings on the pump may be going bad and causing slower drain. If the drain is clogged then it will also cause slow drain.

Hello Bob, It sounds like there is either something wrapped around the pump impeller, preventing the vanes from being able to push the water or something has gotten into the pump at some point and worn against the impeller, wearing the impellers down so it cannot efficiently push the water out. Either way, the fix is a new pump assembly WP35-6780.

Hello Rob. That is from the snubber. As long as there is no balance issue, it is fine. If it gets off balance, replace the snubber.

Mac

I replaced the washer drain pump assembly (MFG part # 35-7680) on my Maytag washer. The installation of the pump went smoothly and before I sealed everything back up I checked to make sure all hoses and screws were connected correctly and tight. When I ran my first two loads of laundry, my washer was shaking so violently that I had to sit on it to stop it from shaking. It happens in the rinse and spin cycles only. I check with a level and confirmed my machine and the ground where is stands are both level and the loads in the washer were not unbalanced. I didn't pull it all apart yet but even if I did I am not sure I would know what to look for anyways. My washer has the pump at the back right corner and motor is on the front same side. I noted the motor did not appear to be secured down enough as it moved slightly. However, when I check fo any lose screws I didn't see any and it appears to be this way by design. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
