The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is vital for draining water from the washer drum during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose, ensuring that clothes are cleaned and rinsed effectively.

Symptoms of a failing Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as humming or grinding
  • Error codes on the washer's display indicating drainage issues
  • Water leaks from the pump area or from the washer
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to drainage problems

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include obstructions from debris, wear and tear on the pump motor over time, electrical issues such as short circuits, or damage from improper installation or usage.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Note: This pump has been redesigned and the mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

Hi Sam. It sounds like you have either an upper spin bearing or the lower spin bearing going bad. Pull the unit out and lean it on its back against the wall. Look up from the bottom and remove the drive belt. With your hand , start to spin the motor pully, pump pulley and main transmission pulley. Look up underneath the tub at the area where the tub and the agitator shaft meet. Do you see any black or brown throw off of oil or burnt tub seal? This will tell you of which part to replace. The drain pump part # is WP35-6780. Thank you.
