The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is vital for draining water from the washer drum during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose, ensuring that clothes are cleaned and rinsed effectively.

Symptoms of a failing Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as humming or grinding
  • Error codes on the washer's display indicating drainage issues
  • Water leaks from the pump area or from the washer
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to drainage problems

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include obstructions from debris, wear and tear on the pump motor over time, electrical issues such as short circuits, or damage from improper installation or usage.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Note: This pump has been redesigned and the mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

Hi Dan. This can be fun to diagnose. First lift the top assy. Then unclip the top tub ring cover to see if there is any article of clothing bunched up in between the inner / outer tub with a flashlight. If this is clear then concentrate on the lower area. Pull the unit out half -way and lean back. Unhook the belt part # is WP27001006. Check the pump so it freely turns part # 27001233. Check the idler pulley part # is WP40045001. The motor is part # 12002133. The motor capacitor is part # WP40084501. Check under the agitator to see if there is a nail or screw in a hole protruding outward , slowing the basket down. Thank you.
