Causes of needing to replace the flame sensor can include normal wear and tear over extended use, exposure to high temperatures or corrosion, or physical damage to the sensor itself.

Symptoms that may indicate a faulty flame sensor include:

  • The dryer not heating or producing heat properly
  • Error codes related to the gas system or ignition failure
  • The dryer shutting off unexpectedly during cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore gas dryer models.

Frank, Remove the 1X1 inch plastic cover of the inspection opening in the front panel, Once the dryer has run a few minutes, look in the opening and observe if the igniter is cycling off and on. If it is, the flame switch is OK, if not check the flame switch for a "closed" circuit at room temperature. With the work you've done already, you'll most likely need the WPW10328463 gas valve coil assembly.

Joe for Model Number Kenmore Gas Dryer – Model: 77832791 – 77832

The flame stays on for 10 seconds and then goes out. I have changed the Solenoid Coils and the flame will light, but still goes out after 10 seconds. Then, a minute or two later the ignitor glows again and the flame starts, then, goes out after 10 seconds. I also ran the Dryer with the vent system disconnected. Cleaned the vent system reconnected it and still the flame goes out after 10 seconds.Any ideas..?? What do you suggest I try next? Thanks

Hello Joe, You will need to order and install the coils 279834 on the gas valve. If this does not correct the issue, the gas valve will have to be replaced.

Attila, This issue would not be caused by a faulty cycling thermostat but would be more likely a faulty gas valve on the unit.

Kathy, You will want to check the flame sensor for continuity at room temp, if no continuity replace the flame sensor. If the flame sensor checks ok then the most likely issue would be the gas coils.
