Also I am trying to order the ice maker even though mine works but the ice tray is flaking off whatever finish is on it and spoiling the ice cubes. Beverly December 14, 2015 My son replaced the ice maker in my whirlpool fridge. He used the old wiring as it did not have a plug to the fridge. The replacement is a whirlpool replacement but after more than 24 hrs I still have no ice. Is it the wiring? The old wiring was operating before.
1 Answer Hello Beverly. It could be the wiring. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
