For Whirlpool Ice Maker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hello Serapia, The cheapest way to ensure the problem will be corrected is to replace the icemaker as an assembly 4317943. You will need to pry the old bail arm out of the old icemaker and press it into the new one since the new one does not come with this arm.

Hello Marty. You will need to check and make sure the fill tube is not frozen and if not, then it sounds like the icemaker may be bad and need to be replaced in the unit. Make sure the temp is 0 to 5°.

John, You will want to check the fill tube to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. If it is frozen the water valve would need to be replaced. If the fill tube is not frozen they the water valve would need to be checked to see if voltage is getting to it. If there is power to the water valve when the icemaker calls for water then the water valve would need replaced. If there is not power then replace the icemaker.

Hello Union, You will need to pull the unit out and access the wires to the water valve whose output water line leads to the icemaker. Pull the wiring connector off of the valve and insert the probes from your test meter set to ac voltage. You will be looking for 120Vac near the end of the cycle. Some units require the door switches be closed for the voltage to pass to the icemaker so it can be forced to cycle. To force a cycle, use an insulated jumper lead from T to H on the front of the icemaker after the white cover has been removed. These are actually the two openings on the front of the icemaker module that are closest together. IF the vents are stopping up you should also check for a possible air leak or defrost issue.

Cindy, This issue sounds like the arm of the icemaker is not in the slot on the back of the icemaker head. Pull the icemaker out and make sure that the arm is in and pushed all the way into the slot. If it is not then the icemaker will continue to produce ice.

Hello Ken. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the icemaker may be bad. However, you need to look and see if it has ice stuck in the fingers. If so, then the water valve may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit.

Kyle, No, the ice maker will not fill with water right away. The ice maker has to cool down to 14 degrees or less, then the motor will advance through the cycle and fill to make the ice cubes. It could take a few hours to occur. Also remember, after the ice maker has made 2 or 3 batches of ice, you want to discard the cubes and start all over again.

Your parts search engine, parts shipping time, price, and the parts themselves rock! My older Whirlpool side by side had two problems. The dual water valve was bad on the water dispenser side, and my ice maker was leaking due to our water pitting the coating off the cube tray causing it to leak out the front of the ice maker and freezing the dispenser into a block of ice. My 14yr old daughter, replaced both parts while I held the flashlight, under 15 minutes. I did not have a question, but I will offer a tip. I was afraid I had a bad part, wasn't sure which one. Solenoid/ valve(#2188542) would not come on to fill the cube tray, but It would dispense water. Followed your tips on flushing the fill tube for possible freezing, even though I never heard the valve come on, determined that was not the problem. Read in here where some one had the same problem I did, and you referred them to a forum. I tested the 120Vac on the icemaker(#4317943)-GOOD, I used the jumper on the timer for a full revolution, and still no valve start up. I left the jumper in for a second revolution, and it energized. VIOLA! water in the tray! I am guessing the two revolutions got the contacts on the timer seated or moved dielectric grease around, and it signaled the valve to energize. Maybe this will help some one in the future.
