Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Roller (Part Number: OEM18017709)

1 Answer

Bob, In order to change out the roller assembly on your unit, you will need to pull the unit out from the wall. Once out from the wall open the door and remove the lower kickplate and remove the black screw that is on the left and right side. These screws will be just below the leveling bolts. It will also be helpful to remove the leveling bolts on the unit as well. Once you have the bolts in the front out you will want to go to the back of the unit and remove the lower cover over the compressor. On the lower and right and left hand side of the cabinet there will be a black screw that you have to remove. Once you remove these screws you will have to hold the base of the unit and slide the cabinet forward approximately 1" with the base staying in place. It may be just a little further. Once you have the cabinet slid forward you will then need to tilt the cabinet backwards. What this will allow is for the base to release from the front so that you can access the roller assembly and pin. The front should base panel should stay down when you tilt the unit cabinet back. To protect the flooring in the back it would be a good idea to put a protective type mat under the rear of the unit. Also if you need to lean the unit against the wall you will want to put something there to protect the wall. Once the base is down and cabinet leaned back, you will be able to lift the base so that you can drop the roller out and install the new one.
