Vicki November 15, 2013 for Model Number MER6875AAS Bottom oven overheats and gets extremely hot when it is set at 359 degrees. This is an electric oven.
1 Answer Vicki, You will want to check the oven sensor on the unit. You will need to check for resistance, which at room temperature the resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1090 ohms. If outside that then you would need to replace the sensor WP7430P044-60. Read More...
Mark August 15, 2013 for Model Number Maytag CWE 4800 Oven overheats. Gets extremely hot when only set at 325 degrees.
1 Answer Hello Mark, You can test the temperature sensor 12001656 with an ohm meter. It should read about 1100 ohms at 70°F. If it reads improperly, you will need to replace it. If it tests good the issue is probably going to be a sticking relay on the clock assembly WPW10201915. Read More...

Michael B December 17, 2011 for Model Number mer6772bas lower bake element was not working so i replaced it and still not working what next too replace.
1 Answer Michael, Does the broil element in the same oven work ? You'll need to turn power off to the range, remove the rear panel, and check the wiring to the element(s) for damage and loose connections. From there you'll need to trace the wire(s) back to the remote "DLB" relay and check the wires and relays there, and back up to the main control panel/control. It is not uncommon for a relay to short out and malfunction, when a loose or broken wire shorts out to chassis ground. If all checks are OK, then replace the control. The oven temp. sensor is the least likely issue at this point. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
