This Smart ATC temperature switch senses and helps regulate oven temperature for more consistent cooking. It replaces a failed switch to restore correct temperature feedback to the range control for accurate heating. What it does:

  • Detects oven temperature and sends a signal to the control so heating elements cycle appropriately
  • Helps correct issues where the oven runs too hot, too cold, or cycles erratically
  • Works as part of the temperature control system—does not include the main control board
  • Replaces a worn or failed temperature/A.T.C. sensor switch to restore proper temperature sensing
What's included:
  • One temperature switch (Smart ATC)
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before starting any repair to avoid shock or injury
  • Access typically requires removing the oven control panel or back panel; keep track of screws and wire connections
  • Handle the switch and connector gently to avoid damage; verify wiring matches original before reconnecting

For Whirlpool Temperature Switch (Smart Atc) (Part Number: OEM18049203)

Narciso for Model Number whirlpool WTW57ESVWO, SN CY2444654, TYPE 111-05

On any cycle the agitator starts before the fill comes on which did not happen before. This model states is has auto sensing with triple spray technology. Previously an online parts recommended and sold me part# w10292584 (2 POSITION SW) which has a hose input, when I went to replace it my washer did not have anything like. In its place I found a 6 position atc switch part # W10179666. What do you suggest I do as my washer is about 9 yrs old and other than agitator issue it works fine, thanks

1 Answer

Narciso,

This issue would most likely be the auto sensing switch that you received and should be the 3rd switch from the left as you are facing the unit from the front. This issue would be the pressure switch in that switch that has failed since it is agitating without filling.

Charlie,

This issue would be caused by either a clogged pressure hose or a faulty Auto sense switch. The part number for the switch is WPW10292584.

Hello James. You need to test for power to the water valve. If there is power there, and no water, make sure the screens are clean. If so, replace the water valve AP4364774 on the unit.

Hello Maurice. It should not use hot water if your using cold tap. As for the clothes shrinking, if you dry them, they will shrink. Also, some material does shrink. If the unit adds hot during the cold tap, replace the water valve on the unit.

Hello Eric. You need to check and make sure the hoses are not swapped on the back of the unit. If they are good, then the selector switch is the next thing to go to.

Glen for Model Number WTW57ESVW0

My Whirlpool washer just stopped the other day. It will not fill on any setting, but will try to empty if I set it to spin. I checked the lid switch, and it is okay. I just replaced the temp selector switch (#W10179666) and still nothing. Getting really frustrated and out of ideas. I already spent $80 to replace the selector, and can't afford to go piece-by-piece. Any suggestions on how to test components? My next guess is the timer switch, but no idea how to test it out.

Hello Glen. Try both hot and cold settings. If neither works, you will need to order and replace the sensor switch WPW10292584. If one works, but other does not, replace the water valve.

Tim, You're on track, It's most likely the water temperature switch WPW10179666 the "sensor" is internal of the water inlet valve WPW10175893 and seldom fails. Check and make sure there are no loose connections or corrosion on the temperature switch connector pins, the replace the switch, it's more susceptible to failure.
