The Whirlpool spark module is an OEM replacement part responsible for controlling the ignition and sparking of the gas burners in a Whirlpool range or cooktop. The spark module is typically located behind the control panel or near the burners, and it generates the electrical sparks needed to ignite the gas for cooking.

Causes of a bad module can include electrical surges, physical damage, or simply wear and tear over time.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Gas burners fail to ignite or have weak or inconsistent sparks
  • Continuous sparking even after the burner is lit
  • No spark at all when attempting to ignite the burners
  • Unresponsive or non-functional burner control knobs
  • Visible damage, such as burn marks or corrosion, on the spark module

The Whirlpool spark module can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Jay for Model Number Whirlpool Model SF385PEEQ

I have a whirlpool rangetop (Whirlpool Model SF385PEEQ) that does not spark - only the gas flows when turning the knob on. I determined the spark module is bad. Question: How does Part #AP4364254 ($15.09) differ from Part #8053421 (over $100.00)? Depeding on the parts retailer's website - when clicking the exploded view diagram of parts, one or the other option will show up. This website shows the AP4364254 part. However, when I search this website by part #8053421, the "AP" part #AP3031050 is available for the higher price. Which part is correct?

1 Answer

Hello Jay. The difference is the configuration. Based on the model number you provided, WPW10110491 is the correct spark module. Hope this helps.

HI Bec. We need your exact model # to assist you. If it is a cook top , then it will be on the bottom of the unit at the sides. If it is a range it will be on the frame behind the storage drawer or the kick plate assembly. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Vernon Y. for Model Number SF375PEE

My original spark module has only two pins on the top, for the power connection, the new on has three connections. I read, in the Q/A, an answer that you gave to another person that identifies the power wires white wire goes to the Minus and the brown wire goes to the plus. My wires are white to negative and Orange, or maybe pink, can't tell which, to the positive. I think this would be OK but, my other wires are white with color tags on them. They differ from the colors you told the guy to hook up. The tags on the white wires are Red, Yellow, Orange & Blue. Can you tell me how to hook mine up to this new module?

1 Answer

Hello Vernon. They do not show the wire colors on your model number. Here is what you can do. Hold the new module up to the old one. Hook the white to the negative, and the orange to the positive. Then the wires under them on the old module will go into the same place on the new module. Hope this helps.

Hello Nick. The black wire goes to the - and the Brown goes to the +. If you look under the + the top terminal is Orange. The one under it is Yellow. Across from Yellow is Blue, and under Blue is Brown. You will need to make a ground wire and hook it to the terminal between + and - and run it to the ground screw. Hope this helps.

That is a ground terminal. You will need to run a ground wire from it to the frame of the range.
