Part Number: OEM18092859
Manufacturer Part Number: W10823734

Replacement infinite switch for an electric range or cooktop top burner that controls heat from low to high, restoring variable temperature control for a single cooking element. What it does:

  • Regulates power to one top heating element so the burner responds to low-to-high knob settings.
  • Replaces a failed control causing the burner to not heat, to stay stuck on one setting, or to cycle unpredictably.
  • Restores gradual temperature changes for simmering and high-heat cooking when the original switch is worn or intermittent.
  • Matches factory terminal and mounting locations for a like-for-like swap.
What's included: One infinite switch (single top-burner control). Install notes:
  • Disconnect electrical power at the breaker before servicing the appliance.
  • Access typically requires removing the cooktop or back panel; keep track of fasteners and brackets.
  • Confirm terminal/connectors match the original switch before connecting; do not force mismatched connectors.

Brad B, Based on the information provided the temp sensor is a part of the element and if it is bad you would need to replace the element asm.

I've been having the same problem as Don below - I've ordered this part from two other vendors multiple times and keep getting a burner with no hole for the epic sensor, and the Epic sensor is not included with the kit. The EPIC sensor is all I actually need. If you can verify your kit will DEFINITELY include the Epic sensor I will order from you. Also - maybe - can you check if the Epic sensor in this burner: https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-elmnt-surf-w10823724-ap6030944.html is the same as the one in W10823734? If so it would be a more cost effective way for me to get a Epic sensor....

Mike, Based on the information provided and the pics of the new kit, it shows to have both sensors the switch and the wiring harness jumpers for the kit. It also shows to be the correct part for your model.

Don for Model Number JEC9536ADW front right burner

In compliance with the answer to my previous question I ordered the Infinity switch replacement kit. It arrived today (W108237340). The kit arrived in good shape but includes an element that does not have an epic sensor. The included instructions still address dealing with the epic sensor. After three tries it appears I will not be able to obtain the correct element. I need instructions on how to cope with this. I also need assurances that the lack of the epic sensor will still allow the burner to function in some reduced capability mode.

Hello Don, on your model, the right front control/burner is listed as a Custom Control burner by the manufacturer. For the control /burner to work at all the electronically controlled infinite switch must thave the burner's (Epic) temperature sensor to read otherwise there is no power sent to the burner by the control. Please contact our Customer Serice at 1-877-477-7278 and advise them accordingly.

Hello Don, return and reorder the kit, it should have the custom control, heater with epic sensor, adapter wire harness and instruction sheet.

Can you tell me which version of the Epic sensor comes with this kit? I currently have this kit installed (after third burnout of previous controls) . I have determined that this time, the Epic sensor is the issue. I cannot find anywhere to buy this separately. I have bought this kit from another vendor and although I get the right control, it always comes with a burner not only missing the Epic Sensor, but no slot to put it in the burner anyway. So if you can verify which sensor comes with your version of the kit I will purchase. Also wondering if there's perhaps a burner for another cooktop that might include this same sensor, that I could buy more cost-effectively and harvest the sensor from? Thanks, Mike

Mike, unfortunately, the manufacturer does not specify what epic sensor is used with this kit. As the manufacturer does not list the epic sensor used with your model, we are not able to identify if there would be another burner using the same sensor.

William for Model Number W10823734

I purchased the W10823734 burner and switch kit for a Jenn-Air JEC9536AD Cooktop, right front burner. The posts for the new burner are labeled differently and the proper wire connections from the switch are not clear. What are the proper wire connections from both the blue and white wire harnesses from the switch to the burner posts and other areas? Also, where should the Hot Light wire connect? It connected to the old switch (8507P193-60), but it looks like it may connect to one of the new burner posts. Thank you.

1 Answer

William, the hot light would connect to the terminal 2B on the element while the wires from the switch would go to one side of the hot light and the terminal 1B of the element. The red wire will go to the single L terminal on the thermal limiter block, the tan wire will go to the out coil terminal, the yellow wire will go to the inner coil terminal, and the red and black wired connector goes to the epic sensor on the element (may need to transfer from the original element).

Charles, The wire harness that comes with this kit must be used and the connector the for Epic sensor is part of the harness.

Brad for Model Number JEC9530ADB

Wife is complaining that right front element, only the inner element works. If I play with it long enough, I can usually get the outer element to come on. This element also makes the range make a clicking sound when you rotate the dial in the upper heat levels (and the light for the element flashes with the clicks). I believe this is the part set I need to replace. She moved to rear left burner, since it's the only large element left and she is complaining that it's TOO hot and she is burning dinner. I'm not sure if this is also fixable or maybe just placebo... Any thoughts on that?

1 Answer

Bill, Unfortunately there was a redesign in the element and switch that requires the kit to be replaced as a whole and not as individual parts.
