By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18092859
Manufacturer Part Number: W10823734

Replacement infinite switch for an electric range or cooktop top burner that controls heat from low to high, restoring variable temperature control for a single cooking element. What it does:

  • Regulates power to one top heating element so the burner responds to low-to-high knob settings.
  • Replaces a failed control causing the burner to not heat, to stay stuck on one setting, or to cycle unpredictably.
  • Restores gradual temperature changes for simmering and high-heat cooking when the original switch is worn or intermittent.
  • Matches factory terminal and mounting locations for a like-for-like swap.
What's included: One infinite switch (single top-burner control). Install notes:
  • Disconnect electrical power at the breaker before servicing the appliance.
  • Access typically requires removing the cooktop or back panel; keep track of fasteners and brackets.
  • Confirm terminal/connectors match the original switch before connecting; do not force mismatched connectors.

William for Model Number W10823734

I purchased the W10823734 burner and switch kit for a Jenn-Air JEC9536AD Cooktop, right front burner. The posts for the new burner are labeled differently and the proper wire connections from the switch are not clear. What are the proper wire connections from both the blue and white wire harnesses from the switch to the burner posts and other areas? Also, where should the Hot Light wire connect? It connected to the old switch (8507P193-60), but it looks like it may connect to one of the new burner posts. Thank you.

Answer

William, the hot light would connect to the terminal 2B on the element while the wires from the switch would go to one side of the hot light and the terminal 1B of the element. The red wire will go to the single L terminal on the thermal limiter block, the tan wire will go to the out coil terminal, the yellow wire will go to the inner coil terminal, and the red and black wired connector goes to the epic sensor on the element (may need to transfer from the original element).
