Vickie for Model Number Jennair JED8430BDB

My back left burner made a flash and explosion kind of noise. I guess it arced and kicked the breaker. It was a red flash in the burner. My fan works as well the other 3 burners. What do I need to fix it...I see that it can't be fixed without pulling it out of the countertop and vent...ugh. Is it an infinite switch or burner?? My husband turned the stove on high and took the dog for a walk....double boiler spitted water for a while!! Can 2 half way intelligent people do the repair??? Hubby isn't mechanical in anyway! Please help me!! I cannot afford a new one to replace it..it's only 10 years old. Thank you so very much!! :)

Hello Vickie. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the element shorted out and will need to be replaced. The serial number of the unit will be needed to determine which one you need. You will need to remove the cooktop from the counter top to remove the top and replace the element. Make sure the power is turned off. You can call us at 1-877-477-7278 to order the correct element you need. Thank you.
