Howard, it would be recommended that the wires at the door hinge are inspected for any broken wires. If there is not a broken wire, the failure would likely be in the switch board WP2180236.

Hello Skip, first, confirm the dispenser has not been set to (Lock Out), next check the wire harness from the freezer door to the cabinet for any wire problems, next check the freezer door light /interlock switch operation.

Nicholas, it would mostly be a personal preference on replacing the ice dispenser microswitch WP2162361 if it is operating properly. Depending on the frequency of ice being dispensed, the switch could potentially have enough wear to warrant replacing it before it has failed.

Joe D, Based on the description provided of the issue it could be a short with any component in that circuit, that being said I would check the dispenser solenoid and the dispenser motor assembly first with a multimeter and then if they are ok move on to the switch, board and even the wiring.

Hello Jay, on your model the dispenser switches WP2162361 power the water valve and ice dispenser motor directly with 120v. You may want to replace them both at this point. Its likely the water switch is just worn or has gotten moisture inside the switch body.
