Bandit63, There are still several possibilities, If the washer fills but won't agitate, you may have an "open" circuit in the lid switch, or timer. The "humming" noise in the spin cycle could indicate an article stuck in the pump, faulty timer, or motor. Under the circumstances, you may want to start at the timer WP8546681.

Hello Sonny, With unit turn on and calling for water you should receive 120 vac to each solenoid. If you are not getting this then you would want to check the timer/electronic control to make sure that it is sending 120 vac. Also check wiring to make sure that there are no loose or broken wires.

Hello Mark, To access the lid switch you would remove the 2 phillips head screws on the front of the control panel endcaps. Roll the control panel up. Remove the 2 clips holding the cabinet to the rear panel. Once this is done you can pull cabinet off and the lid switch will be attached under the main top and removed by 2 screws in the door opening.

Mike for Model Number LSW9700PQ2

hello, my washer machine just stopped working right after the rinse cycle and now won't do anything at all. Won't agitate or drain. think it might be the lid switch just going off what the simpler problems could be and after taking shell off and checking lid switch i noticed that it was pretty hard to get the harness off to disconnect it, and then when i did the middle receptacle was burnt up and disfigured now. i checked inside the switch and the metal connection in there was burnt up too. i just ordered a new switch and don't know what to do about the harness. might be able to connect new switch to it but worried same thing will happen again. what steps should i take? Thanks for the help

Mike, If there's enough damage , you may have to replace the wiring harness 3957275, but if it's necessary, you can order the plasic connector housing [2172937], The pins (if necesary) and repair the harness wires as necessary. You're going to need to run a voltage check and make sure the line voltage doesn't drop below 108 VAC when the motor starts in the spin cycle, with a tub full of water. and check the connections at the timer and the motor, make sure there aren't any loose or corroded terminals.

Hello Aunt Frank, You would want to check the lid switch for continuity when lid is closed. If there is no continuity then the switch would be bad and would need to be replaced.
