If I hold the selector knob tightly clockwise when it is still filling it will fill up completely. Is the switch bad or possibly just misaligned or perhaps needing cleaned?

Deidre August 27, 2014 Hi, the knob on the water level switch has broken off. Is there anyway I can change the water level setting without replacing the water level switch. The water level switch has been giving problems as it would not turn easily to adjust the water level. It is now stuck on the medium size water level and I would like to change it to the super size. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Deidre. No, you will have to replace the switch to repair the issue with the unit. Sorry. Read More...

Robby October 12, 2013 for Model Number W10339229 Water level switch My washer is overfilling. I was informed by a repairman that I likely have a bad water level switch. I purchased a replacement water level switch (W10339229) and installed it. The new switch did not fix the problem. I did not replace the pressure hose that came with the switch - I just used the old hose. I assume I should use the new hose. Why does that matter?
1 Answer Robby, The air tube has to be free of pin holes, kinks, clogs and debris. The air in the tube is pushed up the tube and into the water level switch, this pressurizes the bellow inside and opens the circuit to stop the fill. if there's an air leak, etc. the washer will continue to fill. The replacement hose insures a more tight fitting when mounted to the tub outlet and the switch. Another quick check to make: start the washer in a wash cycle, while the machine is filling, press in on the timer knob several times, the water should stop flowing, or unplug the power cord from the outlet while the water is filling 9do this several times). if the water continues to flow, you'd have a faulty fill valve, if the water stops flowing then you'd have a faulty water level switch Read More...
Shawn A. August 29, 2013 for Model Number LSQ8000HQ0 Whirlpool Washer We have a Whirlpool washer and when you begin wash cycle it will fill up with water but will not begin to wash. It does this in both regular and delicate cycle. We usually push in dial and turn the knob to reset the wash cycle and usually this will then make the machine begin to rotate and wash. Sometimes it takes a couple of times. Machine will then go through its cycle. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Shawn
1 Answer Hello Shawn, This can be a failing lid switch 3949247V, a failing pressure switch W10820051, a poor electrical connection, or the timer WP3953553 could be going into trouble. Read More...
Beth August 23, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool Washer LSQ9659PW4 In the wash cycle, water was still coming in the washer. Water ran over the drum and out onto the floor. What would cause this?
1 Answer Hello Beth. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit. Read More...
