This water level pressure switch senses the tub's water level and relays it to the washer's control. Replacing a failed switch restores proper filling and cycle progression while helping prevent overfilling, underfilling, or long-fill interruptions.

  • Monitors air pressure from the tub to determine water level
  • Signals the control/timer to stop filling and start the wash or spin
  • Helps prevent overfill conditions and incorrect water levels
  • Helps resolve symptoms like no fill/long fill, continuous filling, or cycles that won't advance
What's included: 1 water level pressure switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water supply before servicing
  • Access the control/console area; note wire and hose positions for reassembly
  • Transfer the pressure hose and electrical connector to the new switch; ensure the hose is clear, undamaged, and fully seated
  • After installation, run a diagnostic or calibration procedure for your model

For Whirlpool Water Level Pressure Switch (Washer) (Part Number: OEM17955627)

Harry for Model Number 110.26791691

Is there a video on how to replace the water level switch? I think that is our problem. We have a water miser and not only does the washer not fill all the way, but it doesn't fill all the way for the rinse either. It pumps only part of the water out of the sink, for the water miser....like it is set on small load instead of big load. I would hate to spend the money on the part, if it won't fix the problem, because this is an older machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Harry, We do not have a video on how to replace the water level switch. You should check to make sure that your pumps and hoses are clear. Also check your pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged or kinked which would also cause the issue. To replace the pressure switch you would unplug unit and on either end of the control panel use a putty knife and get under the panel or there may be 2 screws to take out. This will release the control panel. You will roll the control panel up and there are 2 clips under the control panel that hold the cabinet to the rear panel. release these clips. This will allow you access to the pressure hose and you can pull the knob off the pressure switch and take pressure switch off.

Hello Matt, The pressure switch hose should be checked first. If it is clear, the pressure switch W10820051 is most likely the issue.

Hello Ken. It sounds like the unit is siphoning the water out of the unit. You need to check and make sure ther is only 6" of drain hose in the drain pipe and that there is an air gap at the drain pipe and the hose is not air tight in the pipe.

Hello Bert. If you can stop the water by turning off the power to the machine, you will need to replace the pressure hose or switch W10820051. If the water has to be turned off at the shut off, you will need to replace the water valve 285805. Hope this helps.

Bob for Model Number LSR8233EQO

Our washer seems to run ok and the water levels seem to be right, but as it goes through its cycles about every other load it gets to the spot on the dial- after the washer fills in either the wash mode or the rinse mode but always after it fills it studers. At first I thought it was the control dial, but when this happens you can change the load size setting and the wash will take off again- either to keep filling if we changed to a larger load or start the next cycle if we chose a smaller load. So im trying to decide if its the control knob or water level switch? Thanks.

Hi Bob. Since this is happening after a water fill then you have a pressure water level switch. Part # W10820051 that is defective. Also make sure that the water valve inlet screens are clear. You can flush them out or replace the water valve part # 285805. The cold water will clog a lot faster since the hot water falls in the bottom of the heater, it naturally will clog and slow the rinse water since it is mostly cold water fill. Thank You.

Hello Debby. You old wiring harness should unplug off the old switch and onto the new one. You will need to remove the pressure hose from the tub and install the new pressure hose to the tub and the new pressure switch W10820051. The old switch you will need to release the tab and turn it to remove it from the control panel. Then put in the new switch and turn it until it locks into place. Hope this helps.

Hello Diana. When you replaced the switch, did you change the pressure hose as well? If not, you will need to change the hose and the switch. If so, you may have a bad water valve 285805. Hope this helps.

Hello Diana! If you can unplug the washer and the unit stops filling, then it will be the water level switch W10820051. If the unit continues the fill the water valve 285805 will need to be replaced. Thanks!

Hello Suzanne. If the washer doesn't fill and the water continues to run, you will need to check the drain hose and make sure it is not to far inside the drain pipe. If so, this will cause the water to siphon out of the machine. If the problem is that the water does not shut off and overflows the machine, then you could have a bad pressure switch W10820051 or water valve 285805. If the pressure switch is bad, you will be able to stop the water with turning the timer off. If you have to turn the water off at the shut off, you will need to change the water valve. Hope this helps.
