Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Water Level Pressure Switch (Part Number: OEM20943138)

1 Answer

Clarence, as the water is filling to only half of the normal fill level, this is going to indicate that there is not enough water flow to fill within the allotted 6.5-minute timeframe. If the water supply valves are fully turned on, and there are no blockages in the hose, the water inlet valve would need to be replaced. If it is occurring on cold wash and not hot wash selections, the cold water valve WPW10212596 has failed. If it is occurring on hot wash selections but not cold wash, the hot water valve WPW10212598 has failed.

Joni, The W11417623 switch and W11252474 Air Tube, senses water level in the wash tub. The control signal from the pressure switch is sent to the Central Control Unit and is used to determine the amount of water introduced into the wash tub during the wash cycle. The pressure switch also senses the suds level in the wash tub. If excessive sudsing occurs,The display will show the word “Sud”. If an overfill condition is detected by the pressure switch, the CCU will turn on the drain pump and attempt to stop the overflow.

Pat, For this issue you will want to check to see if there is power coming to the valve. If there is no power to the valve then check the pressure switch to see if the pressure switch has voltage to it. If there is no power then check the temp switch and if the temp switch has no power to it then it will be the timer that is the issue.

Hello Cecil. Check the belt and make sure it is good on the unit. Also make sure the large pulley is not loose on the unit as well. If all of that is good, then check your bearings next. The last thing to check would be the motor and board combo WPW10315848. If bad, it would cause the issues your having with the unit. Thank you.

Tom, Unfortunately there would be no way to get the wires back into the harness if they broke. This would require replacing the entire harness and not individual harness to the pressure switch.

Eric for Model Number wfw9450wr00

My washer keeps going into F21 fault. I have taken out and cleaned the filter to the pump. If I wash a small load the unit works. If i try to wash a load of Jeans the unit goes through its cycle until the some where in the wash cycle and the display says SUDS and the unit goes into the F21 code. If you put a large load in the washer it goes into the F21 code. I have taken the top of the washer and removed the pump and drain hoses all the way back to the drain at the wall( no obstructions). If you run the washer with no clothes it does fine. I have put it through its diagnostic cycle and it appears fine. I don't know where to go from here, do I replace the pump and pressure switch or am i on the wrong track? Please let me know what you think? Thank you Eric.

Hello Eric, This is most likely going to be the drain pump (W10117829) if nothing is obstructing the drain from inside the outer tub to the standpipe. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided.

Eric, Would suggest that the pressure hose is not getting clogged up. Maybe run the unit unit through a clean cycle to ensure that any residue is cleared up that could cause over sudsing. If all this checks ok then it would be more likely that the issue will be with the pressure switch not resetting.

Ralph, Unfortunately there is no adjustment to the water level on the unit. If it is not filling all the way then the pressure switch would be the most likely cause.

Beth for Model Number MOD# WFW9151YW00 SER# HL21103354

I have a Whirlpool Duet MOD# WFW9151YW00 SER# HL21103354, and this is my problem with it. When I wash it on any cycle, it would fill up as normal and start washing, then after a few seconds it would try to fill again making that water kick on and off. Until it fills up half way with water and I would get a LF error code. So, I did some research and understood that it could be my water sensor not reading the water pressure, Long Fill error, so I bought a new sensor MOD# W10239066 and replaced it. I did a batch of clothes and I still got the same thing, washer would fill half way with water and get the LF error code. So, again I did some more looking into my washer, and change out my cold water switch MOD# W10212596 thinking that it was getting stuck, but still having the same problem. I am hoping that you can help me with fixing my washer, that is only two years old, before I call someone or just break down and buy a new washer. I am hoping it's just a simple fix. Thanks!

Hello Beth. Check and make sure the pressure hose is good on the unit. If the pressure hose is good, you will need to order and replace the water level switch W11417623 if it is not reading the water level in the unit.
