The Water Level Switch is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This switch is responsible for detecting the water level inside the washer tub and communicating this information to the control board to regulate the filling and draining processes. It ensures that the washing machine uses the correct amount of water for each cycle, optimizing cleaning performance and water usage.

Causes of a bad water level switch can include electrical malfunctions, wear and tear over time, or damage from water exposure. When the water level switch fails, it can disrupt the machine’s ability to fill or drain properly, leading to various performance issues.

Symptoms of a bad water level switch include:

  • The washer not filling with water
  • The washer overfilling with water
  • The washer not advancing through the cycle
  • Inconsistent water levels in the drum

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Michael. There is no adjustment. The water level should be close to the bottom of the glass. On some cycles you will get more water into the unit. If the level is to low, replace the pressure switch.

Leo, We would need to have the model number to be able to assist properly but in most cases you will want to check the door lock assembly. The door lock has an spin enable switch that may not be making and the unit may not be spinning.

Jordan, At the bottom of the unit there is a cover there. You will want to remove the 3 screws that would kinda be under the lip of the front and remove the panel. This will give you access to the drain pump to check the filter.

Hello Deborah. NO WATER DETECTED ENTERING MACHINE OR PRESSURE SWITCH TRIP NOT DETECTED. Possible Causes/Procedure If there is no water in the unit: Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves. Verify inlet valve operation. If there is water in the unit: Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub and pressure switch. Unplug washer or disconnect power. Verify there is not a siphon problem. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, flow meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU). Check all hoses for possible leaks. Plug in washer or reconnect power. Verify pressure switch operation. Verify flow meter operation by blowing air through the part and measuring the resistance. David for Model Number LHW0050PQ1

My washer will not drain. I drained it through the drain hose easily, not the coin trap in front, so I don't think there is a clog. I then opened the pump and set washer to spin cycle and the impeller spun. The washer would not drain when I reassembled the pump and tried a rinse cycle. I noticed that the pump became pretty hot, I assume this was because no water was being moved, thus not cooling it. Does this mean that the pump is failing even though it is still spinning? Do I need to check the pressure switch & if so, how would I test it? Thank you for your time. David

Hello David. The impeller can turn and still be bad. If under pressure, if it does not drain, then the drain pump is bad on the unit.

Clint, You will want to make sure that the pressure hose to the pressure switch and to the air trap is installed properly with no clogs and no clogs in the air trap. If this checks ok then the CCU would be the issue with the unit.
