Pkcouch September 08, 2022 for Model Number GS5SHAXNL00 For my thermistor PN 2188819, it reads an open circuit at 0F, 37F, and room temperature. Would this indicate that my thermistor is bad?
1 Answer Pkcouch, The resistance of this thermistor should be 2.7K ohms at room temperature and if it is not getting that reading or is showing an open circuit then it would be faulty and need to be replaced. Read More...
Josh August 18, 2022 for Model Number 10674909401 Freezer seems to be getting too cold and there is water/ice forming at the top vents of the fridge. I've confirmed the drain is unplugged in the freezer, continuity is good on the heater itself, and the defrost bimetal thermostat was replaced. I can't seem to find the thermistor in the freezer so wondering if there is only one on this model in the fridge section or what could be causing the ice build up on the top of the fridge.
1 Answer Josh, The temperature sensor for the freezer will be part number WP2188819 and should be located on the upper right side of the freezer section. Maybe behind a cover. Read More...
Jim September 11, 2021 for Model Number KSRA25ILSS02 Hi, my freezer is getting too cold. I have set the temp up a notch but it just goes back to 5. I have replaced the Thermistor Part Number: AP6006067 and this is the second one I have replaced. The first one was about a year ago and that worked until this week, so I thought it had gone bad. Any thoughts? Thanks
1 Answer Jim, as the thermistor has been replaced, the failure would be in the main control 8201658 based on the information provided. Unfortunately, this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Read More...
Phillips January 07, 2021 for Model Number 10654783801 Freezer won't get no colder than 14 degrees , fridge 38 degrees .The compressor is running and drawing 2amps ,coil is clean , both fans are running ,evaporator not frozen up ,door seals are good .
1 Answer Phillips, if the compressor is running non-stop to try to reach temperature, and the condenser coils are clean, then there would be a sealed system issue that would require an EPA certified tech to properly diagnose and repair. Read More...

Jeff March 31, 2020 for Model Number 10656683501 This is a side by side refrigerator. I'm having issues with the coils freezing up in the freezer compartment. I have replaced the Bi-Metal Defrost P# 2188175 and checked the Heater Defrost P# 2188175 it has continuity so I'm assuming it is ok. Doesn't seem like it wants to go through the defrost cycle. It takes about 2 weeks before I have to manually defrost the coils. Any suggestions
1 Answer Jeff, the defrost heater WP2323198 would need to be tested for resistance and should measure between 21-27O. The entire defrost circuit can be tested from the main control WP2313177 (with the refrigerator unplugged) from the connection P1 pin 3 (pink wire) to pin 2 (white wire) for resistance. If there is not a resistance value measured, and the defrost heater tests within tolerance when tested directly at the heater, then there is a wiring issue. If the resistance checks good from the main control, then the main control has failed. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued the main control and it is no longer available. Read More...
Sandi J November 04, 2019 for Model Number 106.52603100 Kenmore 106.52603100 fridge and freezer warm, compressor cold, lower fan not running, evap fan running, mother board has a burnt solder spot.... could the board be the only problem or could a secondary failure have caused the motherboard to fail.
1 Answer Hello Sandi, yes, it's likely the compressor had a problem and damaged the compressor run circuit in the main control board, unfortunately the main control board part 8201528 is no longer available. To test the compressor would require an appliance tech to check it. Read More...
