Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Top Door Thimble (Part Number: OEM18017952)

1 Answer

Hello James, You are correct. The water line goes up through the door hinge. You should disconnect the water line at the connector behind the kick panel and see if it will dispense there. If it will, the water line is most likely frozen in the door. If it doesn't dispense there, the water tank behind the crisper drawers is probably frozen. Removing the drawers and putting a hair dryer in there for about 15 minutes pointing toward the water reservoir will normally thaw it out. In the case of either line being frozen, the freezer temperature should be set warmer and the refrigerator side should be set colder to increase air circulation. This will prevent the cold air migration which causes the water tank to freeze. If the water doesn't come out at the bottom of the door and the water reservoir isn't frozen, the larger water line can be removed from the bottom of the water valve and get someone to hit the dispense button momentarily. If no water comes out of the valve, the water inlet valve W10408179 will require replacement to restore normal operation.
