The Timer is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It controls the electrical components and the timing of the dryer cycles, ensuring that clothes are dried for the appropriate amount of time.

Over time, timers can become faulty due to normal wear and tear, electrical surges, or internal mechanical failure. If the timer motor fails or the contacts inside the timer wear out, it will no longer be able to accurately regulate the dryer’s cycle duration.

Symptoms of a bad timer include:

  • Dryer not starting
  • Dryer running continuously without advancing through the cycle
  • Dryer stopping mid-cycle
  • Inaccurate cycle times

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hi Kevin. The timer is part # WPW10185970. Make sure the cord at the terminal block is tight and that you use 3-more brass nuts to lock the connections after you snug them. Make sure you are getting 240 vac to each outer 2 legs at the terminal block. then make sure you are getting 120 vac from each outer leg to the center nutral terminal. Thank You.

Hi Jamie. Are you getting 120 vac to the red wire at the 2m motor connection from the L-2 of the terminal block ? If so then the wire between these 2 points are good. You need to see if while the motor is running, there is 120 vac coming from the motor to the heating element on the 1m connection (red wire) going to the heater. If it is not or intermittent, the motor is part # 279827. Thank You.
