This is a mechanical timer that controls the duration of drying cycles by advancing through timed and automatic settings. It regulates motor operation, heating elements, and cool-down periods throughout the cycle. Replace this timer if the dryer won't start, the timer knob doesn't advance, or cycles don't complete as expected.

Ben, This would most likely be caused by a faulty motor on the unit in which the centrifugal switch is stuck closed.

Jesse for Model Number Kenmore Electric Dryer 110.67522600

Our dryer is running hot and can not be controlled by the temperature switch. It was noticed about 3 weeks ago and ran in the "normal dry" mode. the dryer ran almost all night. I noticed it still running at 3AM. I checked the Hi-Limit and cycling thermostats. Even putting on griddle to activate after checking at RT. The both work fine. I checked the cycle switch. It was reading 0.01 resistance on low, 6.6 to 7.8 K ohms on medium, and no reading on high. I just replaced it last night and still get the same readings. I am thinking it actually might be the timer. How do I check the timer and/or what else can I check to see what is going on? (Sorry for the long note)

Jesse, The unit getting too hot you will want to first check the venting from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of home for clogs or restrictions. If this checks ok and the thermostats check ok then the timer would be the most likely cause. If the timer is not advancing then you would also have a faulty timer.

Hello Davy99. It depends on the issue you are having, but you can always test the timer. You will use the wiring diagram on the unit to see where the power should be depending on the part of the cycle you are in. If power is coming to the timer, but not going out when it should, you will need to replace the timer WP8299784. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
