For Whirlpool Refrigerator Adaptive Defrost Control Board (Part Number: OEM9328191)

Clay for Model Number ET1FHTXMT01

Manual defrost activation did not seem to power heater till third time I got board to click. I replaced the Board in a Whirlpool Refrigerator top freezer model. Freezer coils were blocked and when I opened the panel the fan was working, so I defrosted freezer and replaced the board. Two days later, has a clicking sound seeming to come from inside fridge control panel and fan speeding and slowing in unison for a few minutes relayed from owner a couple times a day after and frosting again. Middle of evaporator normal frost pattern with heavy concentration of frost bottom 1/3 of coil blocking inlet in freezer and sides and on top of evaporator with a pile of frost in the middle reaching toward fan. Some frost also in drain hole.

Clay, This issue sounds like the control may be faulty with the pulsing of the evaporator fan motor and the clicking noise associated with it. Also the frost pattern would indicate not entering the defrost mode.

Hello Jim. If fan motor is running, but not cooling, it sounds like the compressor may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit.

Gurmit, On the refrigerator left side wall where the snack pan is just above the upper crisper shelf, there is a vent. Check to make sure that that vent is not full of ice. If so this would cause the issue you are having.

Mike, At this point, Yes. Based on the description and the make up of your refrigerator, there's probably an issue in the ADC board causing an intermittent issue in the board circuitry.

Hello Nick. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
