Dave, Right above the crisper drawer there is a vent on the left wall between refrigerator and freezer. You will want to make sure that the vent is not clogged with ice. If it is you will need to clear the ice. The best way to clear without damaging the Styrofoam insulation is to use hot water. Once clear check to make sure that there is air flow through the upper vent.

Orman, To access the defrost timer, when you open the refrigerator door and look at the control panel, the cover on the control panel you will use a flat blade screw driver from the right hand side to start popping loose. Once it pops loose you will be able to remove the rest. Once off there are 2 screws behind the plate you just removed and two screws at the back of the control panel. This will allow control panel to drop down and there will be two screws on the bottom of the panel to release the timer.

Hello Mike, This issue would be caused by a faulty defrost circuit. You will want to pull the rear wall in the freezer compartment and test the defrost thermostat WPW10225581 and the defrost heater WP2323198 for continuity. If one does not have continuity then replace the faulty part. If both check ok then you would need to replace the defrost controller 4388932. The defrost thermostat would need to be checked while sitting in ice. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Lorenzo. If the unit is not defrosting, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

David for Model Number Whirlpool ED25PWXBW01

Fridge stops during the night and does not rerstart. Checked amp draw and only 2.0 so I suspect the defrost timer. I know how to check the old type but I finally found the board above the light, controls etc. in the cabinet but how can I check the suspect board. When I catch it stopped and cut the fridge off and back on it will start and run until which is probably the next defrost cycle the next day. Restarts ok after being satisfied.

Hello David. Based on the information you provided, it sounds more like the cold control WP2198202 instead of the board. Try tapping the control and see if it starts and runs. If so, replace the control.
