Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Timer (Washer) (Part Number: OEM18024174)

Tom for Model Number LA7800XTW0

The washer fills and washes with the knob advancing properly.  When it goes to spin out the wash water to get ready for the rinse, it just keeps spinning and never stops and fills with rinse water.  When I manually advance it, it fills with rinse water, agitates, and spins to eliminate the rinse water.  When spinning it is supposed to spray with rinse water.  What it does is get stuck spinning and instead of the spray of rinse water, it keeps pouring in rinse water and eliminating it as it spins.  Does this sound like a timer issue or, because it is isolated to just the spin cycles, is this more likely to be something else?

Richard, You will want to check the lid switch when the door is closed for continuity. If there is no continuity then the lid switch would need to be replaced.

Russ, If the unit agitates then the door switch would not be the issue. You will want to check the drain pump for being seized or clogged. If the unit does not drain then it will also not spin the clothes.
