Michael February 20, 2013 for Model Number LA5700XSW1 Hi- My wife has been using the gentle cycle exclusively on the washer for more than 10 years straight. Recently, during the spin cycle, the clothes end up really soaked like the spin cycle did not get all the water out. I started using the normal cycle and the issue doesn't seem to happen. They spin down normally, with most of the water drained out. Would you think this is the timer that is causing an incomplete spin cycle or something else? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Michael, This could have been something in the pump that has since gone on out with the drain water or the timer can in fact cause the issue. This could also be caused by a spin bearing that is beginning to seize. This would only be the case if the load that came out wet was the second or third load and the spin bearing was already heated up from the previous loads. Since heat causes the metal parts to expand, this would not normally happen with the first load when the bearing is in the early stages of failure. Read More...
Kpb December 17, 2012 for Model Number la7000xsw1 washer won't spin, ohmed motor, motor switch, and lid switch all seem to be ok. how can i test the timer?
1 Answer KPB, to test your timer, you'll need to remove power to the washer, set the timer dial to the final spin cycle and pull out the knob. You'll need to use the timer cam chart to determine which contacts are "closed" in the spin cycle (ei : white/black wire to yellow wire in switch14 on cam 8) , you could insert your meter probes in the back of the harness connection, but it's best to unplug the harness connector and check the appropriate brass pins on the timer itself for a "closed" circuit. Lee November 19, 2012 for Model Number ROPER model number 3348430 My washer washes on all cycles but will not drain and the spin cycle doesn't work. Could my problem be in the timer? The part number on the back of the timer is 3351744. I would also like to have the part number for the pull knob as well.
1 Answer Hello Lee. You need to check the lid swtch on the unit. If broken, the unit will not drain or spin. We would need your model number to provide part numbers to you. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Barb June 12, 2012 for Model Number LA9480XWW I am thinking a faulty timer; On normal, Sometimes The machine will fill and not agitate but completes the cycle, once had tub filled with water but went through the complete cycle. Then when I moved the dial to permanent press it went through the complete cycle with no problem. Next I started cycle on Heavy normal and it went through the complete cycle no problem. I have been using the normal cycle and it's been working just fine for the about a week. So the problem seems to be intermittent.
1 Answer Hello Barb. Yes, if the unit only skips the agitate on certain cycles, it sounds like the timer WP3351744 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...

Jeff May 18, 2012 for Model Number Roper al6245vw1 Machine will not go from 1 cycle to the next unless manually moving the dial. Does the timer have to be replaced or can it be something else?
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You can test and see if there is power going to the timer motor. If so, and the timer does not advance, you will need to replace the timer WP3351744 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jim March 11, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool la6055xtwo My washer stops after the wash cycle and does not drain or move into the spin cycle. Is it the timer AP2911959? Can this be easily replaced?
1 Answer Hello Jim. I think I would check the cold water valve 285805. Actually I would check the screen in the cold water side of the valve first and check both ends of the cold water hose for screens. I would also make sure the cold water hasn't been turned off. I doubt there is an issue with the timer. Although it is possible, it isn't the most probable cause of your issue. I hope this helps you out! Have a great day! Read More...
Ruary January 23, 2012 for Model Number LA7780sw1 Whirlpool Washer Washer will fill and agiatate but stops when it cycles to drain and spin. Appears to to do this on all washing choices, regular, permanent press, etc.)Suspect a faulty timer. Do you agree? How can I confirm before spending $107 ? BTW, on regular cycle, can manually move it to middle of spin and drain cycle and get it to do it agitation there FYI.
1 Answer Hi Ruary. If the timer will complete one cycle, then this says alot for the lid switch, transmission and motor. The timer is part # WP3351744. Thank You. Read More...
Andrew And Jerry December 11, 2011 for Model Number la7000xtn0 I purchased this part and now my washer is over filling. The water will not shut off. Does it sound like a new problem or something wrong with the timer.
1 Answer Andrew&Jerry, You want to start at the fill valve 285805. Turn the washer on and start a cycle. while the washer is filling, unplug the power cord, if the water continues to flow, you have a sticky solenoid. If the water stops, you'll need to check the water level switch 64103 and the air tube from the switch to the tub WP353244 it could clogged with deposits or debris. As long as you're sure you didn't cross wire the timer, you should be fine. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
