This electromechanical timer controls the appliance's cycle sequencing and timing to ensure operations start, advance, and stop at the correct intervals. Replaces a worn or faulty timer to restore normal cycle control and timing. What it does:

  • Advances and times cycles so the appliance moves through selected functions in the correct order
  • Routes power to heating and motor circuits during the appropriate cycle stages
  • Commonly replaces timers that cause cycles not to start, not to advance, or to stop unexpectedly
  • Works with the appliance's control system to enable timed operations and manual selections

Billy, Check to make sure that the water valve is not clogged up as this could be the cause of the unit not going into spin and rinse. If this is good then this will most likely be an issue with the clutch but if the clutch is good then check the lid switch and if the switch is good then the timer would be good.

Paul, If your are manually having to advance the timer through fill and wash then spin then yes the timer would need to be replaced.

Hello John. Some models have to be manually moved to 2nd rinse if they do not have the option for it to automatically go into the rinse. Your owners manual should have the directions of how to use the 2nd rinse. I do not see an option on this model for auto 2nd rinse.

Hello JT! If you can manually turn the knob to spin and the unit will spin and complete the cycles, you will need to replace the timer WP8539991. However, if it will not you will need to first check your lid switch WP3949238. Hope this helps!
