Frank B Austin , TX November 24, 2014 Part of the timer shaft broke off so couldn't tell what mode the washer was in when turning dial The timer actually still worked, but there is an external shaft that has the inner dial on it that turns independently from the internal shaft that has the knob on it. The external shaft broke off at the base, so the inner dial just spun freely. It was always a guessing game when trying to turn the knob to the start of a wash cycle. A few times I unknowingly started at the rinse cycle, so clothes weren't really washed. Went to AppliancePartsPros.com and easily identified the part using my Kenmore washer's model number. I placed the order for the time, and for the inner dial. The parts arrived within a few days. Found a YouTube video on how to replace a washer time. (Probably could have done it without watching the video.) I had the new timer and dial installed within about 10 minutes. Washer works like new now! I was going to order the parts from Sears first, but they charge and arm and a leg for shipping that would have got the parts to me in the same time it took from AppliancePartsPros.com to get it to me for much less of a shipping charge. I am very satisfied overall. Read More... 7 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers
Steven M Morganton , NC November 16, 2015 Timer dial broken The repair was simple. Then I put the new dial on, and replaced the front knob. Before I screwed the control panel back down, I tested a load of wash and it worked great. Then I screwed the control panel back down.
