William May 17, 2019 My 34 year old maytag washer A512 will fill but do nothing else.the timer is making noises and the timer knob just keeps moving. No agitation or spining
1 Answer William, you will want to test the lid switch W10820036 for continuity. When the switch is engaged, it should read continuity. If it does not, then it will need to be replaced. Read More...
1 Answer Tony, Yes, the agitate and spin speeds are the same on all cycles. This is a "single" speed washer (A512). The "gentle" or Delicate cycle is accomplished by an intermittent agitate and soak wash cycle. The permanent press cycle has a short "cool down" cycle, depending on load size, at the end of the wash cycle, the water will partially drain, and refill with cold water, then agitate for a short period of time, then drain and rinse. The regular cycle will perform directly to the indication on the timer dial. It's a pretty good system and works rather well overall. Read More...
Dave Z November 23, 2013 for Model Number Maytag washer A512 The washer is not stopping after the selected cycle. This morning I was washing towels on regular fabric and it never stopped it went directly over to the permanent cycle. Then I did a small wash load on delicate and it never stopped it cycled over to regular fabrics. Once I saw this happening I manually tuned the knob to the rinse cycle and spin to stop it.
1 Answer Dave, The timer continuously running and not stopping at the end of the cycle would be an indication that the timer is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
