Shaun, You have stated that you are getting proper power to the motor but the motor will not turn. This will be a faulty motor and you will need to replace it. It is understood that you had a used motor that you installed but you will need to get a new motor for this.

Shaun, If you have 124 Vac to the motor then it would be the motor that is faulty.

Shaun, You would need to make sure that the centrifugal switch is closed to get continity on this. Your best option is turn the meter to voltage and test for 120 vac to the motor.

i did not touch the wires to the timer motor how would you verify that 120 VACis making it to the motor? my fluke miltimeter says in the instrctions to NEVER test live connections. I do know that the firsr trial run the brown number 15 wire was not on the 15 terminal on the timer it was tiedinto the power cord when i applied power heard a HUM or Buzz then my GFI outlet tripped then all the otehr testes i have done i just hear the timer motor running or varies clicking and claking coming from the timer. there is absolutly no life in the motor not even a momentary try dead silence.

Shaun, You would set your multimeter to vac and test at the motor with the washer turned on and there should be 120 vac between the blue and yellow wire of the motor. The meter will allow you to test live voltage as long as it is on the proper setting. The voltage ac setting will be V with a wave line above it.

Shaun, the wiring for the timer and motor would need to be double-checked. From there, the start windings and run windings of the motor 12002351 would need to be tested for 120VAC during operation. If there is 120VAC at the start windings and run windings, the motor would be the cause of failure if it is not humming or trying to operate.

Did what you suggested tested the lid switch for continuity it passed lift it up no continuity tested the timer for voltage seems to be ok is it normal for it to bounce around number kept going to 30 then back down up again? Voltage seems to be getting to the motor. What bothers me is i had ONE wire out of place the brown number 15 wire when i pulled the timer knob out i heard a HUM then my GFI outlet tripped could i have shorted out the motor or the timer? there was no smoke.

Shaun, If voltage is getting to the motor then the motor would be bad. Yes, missed wired could cause damage.

Hi, I have a 35-year-old washer that I am trying to get to agitate and spin. I blow into the pressure switch hose and clamp it off the washer is not fully assembled I don't want to put it all back together until I know it will agitate and spin anyway, I pull out on the timer knob and all I get is the sound of the timer motor same in spin a tried another cycle same thing. I am thinking it is either the timer or the lid switch. Hopefully, you can pinpoint exactly what part is faulty. According to the wiring diagram, all the wires are in their correct or on correctly.

Shaun, Thanks for the question!!! You will want to check the lid switch W10820036 for continuity when the button is pushed in. Replace if no continuity. If it has continuity then you will want to check for voltage to the motor. No voltage would likely be a faulty timer WP206230. If the voltage is present that means the motor 12002351 is bad. Shaun, Check the machine timer wires for the location number on the wire. If not you will need the wiring diagram and/or a technician.

Matt, Yes, the timer WP206230 / 206230 Timer would be the next step in the diagnosis process, The motor does have to change the run direction in order to drain and spin. this is accomplished through the timer circuitry(the timer reverses the polarity to the motor, the motor direction reverses and the washer drains and spins. The drain pump is a non-electrical, belt-driven drain pump, as long as the shaft isn't seized, and the impeller is secured to the shaft the pump is fine. Unfortunately, the timer is no longer available from the manufacturer. The manufacturer no longer sells the part. We can no longer get it from any of our suppliers. There is no substitute for the part available to us and we don't know of any other source for the part. You may want to try contacting local parts dealers, one of them might still have it in stock. Enter your part number in a search engine, a smaller company might have it. Try eBay, Amazon or similar sites. Search by using the manufacturing part number. You can also try a used appliance store, sometimes they have the same model or usable part for your machine. Lastly, try to contact refurbishing companies, they may be able to repair or refurbish the timer. Thanks,
