The dryer timer controls the sequence and duration of each cycle. When its contacts or motor fail, the dryer may not start, advance, or shut off. Replacing the timer restores accurate cycle control and automatic advance.

  • Sequences power through timed contacts to run motor, heat, and related circuits
  • Advances the dial and stops the dryer at the OFF position
  • Provides cycle timing for selected settings
  • Common symptoms of a failing timer: cycle won't advance, won't start on certain settings, runs too long or won't shut off, only one cycle works
What's included: One timer Install notes:
  • Unplug the dryer before servicing
  • Access the control console; label or photograph wire positions
  • Move wires to the new timer one at a time, mount the timer, and reinstall the knob/panel
  • Test cycle advance and shutoff after reassembly

For Whirlpool Timer (Dryer) (Part Number: OEM18023799)

Hello Eric, If the part number you want to cross is 3095500, the WP33001624 will cross properly. I am assuming that you have gotten the part number from the old part. This is not always a proper cross since the vendors that manufacture the parts for the appliance manufacturer will many times put their own part number on their parts. These are referred to as vendor numbers and will most times not cross properly. We cannot guarantee the part will work properly since there is no model number listed for us to look up and verify the cross of the part number.

Michael, For the breaker blowing you will want to check the heater to make sure that the heater is not shorting to ground. For the issue of not shutting off except in low temperature setting would most likely be caused by a bad cycling thermostat.

Waukee for Model Number Maytag LDE9206ACE

Have a Maytag LDE9206ACE electric dryer that seems to be taking longer than usual to dry clothes on the 'sensor' setting. I have replaced dryer vent hose and cleaned the vent (both were essentially clean and only 3 feet long) and all the fuses and T-stats test OK. Since I can't find a sensor for moisture on this model's wiring diagram, I suspect the timer or temp switch. Since I assume you have to remove and heat the temp switch, is there a way to test a timer with a multimeter and rule it out before going to the hassle of removing the temp switch and heating it?

Waukee, In most cases when the unit is taking too long to dry on the sensor setting it will be caused by a faulty cycling thermostat. If the thermostat opens too rapidly or closes too rapidly it will cause the timer to not advance quick enough and will take the unit longer to heat and dry the clothing.

Dennis A for Model Number Maytag electric clothes dryer MDE2300AYW

We recently moved from a house in one community to another house in another community about 200 miles distance. The dryer worked fine when we disconnected it and loaded it on a U-Haul truck for transport. Due to unforseen circumstances the dryer along with all of our other household goods were on board the U-Haul for a full week in tempuratures that exceeded 100 F. We off loaded the dryer and hooked it up and the first time we used it the motor runs but the dryer will not heat. Following your diagnostic and repair information I have run continuity test on the power cord and all wiring to the heater element, including tests on thermal fuses and hi - limit thermostat. So far all items have checked out ok. I am not sure how to test the cycling thermostat or the timer and tempurature switches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello John. Check your exhaust duct. If it's too long and complicated, or crimped or stopped up, the timer will only advance on the timed dry cycle, but not on any of the automatic cycles. Hope this was helpful!

Hello Walter. Check and make sure the wires on the back of the timer WP33001624 are hooked up to the correct location on the timer. If not, it can cause the timer to continue to run past the off position. Hope this helps.
